Mission

Action Femmes et Handicap (AFH) is an autonomous, nonprofit community organization, by and for women with disabilities. Within a framework of intersectional analyses, AFH works to improve the living conditions of women with disabilities and their families.

Objectives

Promoting the autonomy and personal development of women with disabilities (WWD).

Promote and establish conditions conducive to the civic participation of WWD.

Promote the sharing of information between WWD.

Promote the elimination of all forms of violence, discrimination, marginalization or exclusion against WWD.

Enable WWD to break their sense of isolation and help each other.

Promote recognition of the specific condition of women with disabilities.

Means to achieve our objectives

  • Identify the needs of women with disabilities (WWD) and the groups serving them in all spheres of life (health, family, work, leisure, politics, immigration, etc.)
  • Develop projects and promote community, government and individual initiatives
  • Offer support, reference and guidance to WWD in the various steps leading to full autonomy
  • Develop popular education tools to offer WWD and member groups learning opportunities through personal and professional development in order to promote their empowerment
  • Establish discussion and support groups by and for women with disabilities
